OUR HISTORY

In April 2010, Mr. M. K. Krishnan—fondly known as Krishnettan among us —approached his neighbours, Mr. O. A. Joseph and Mr. M. D. Dominic, with an inspiring vision: to bring the community together through a friendly and united group. Inspired by this vision, a small gathering was soon held at Mr. Joseph’s residence, where the seeds of a residents’ association were sown. The aim was simple yet meaningful—to foster mutual understanding, collaborate on common concerns, and above all, nurture love and harmony within the neighbourhood.

Encouraged by the warmth and enthusiasm, more families were invited to join. On the 25th of April, the first official meeting, attended by 13 spirited individuals, was once again hosted. With that, a new chapter began—the birth of a vibrant residents’ association, built on friendship, unity, and a shared vision for a better community.

The second meeting of the group was held on the 9th of the following month at the residence of the late Mr. Velayudhettan, by which time the membership had grown to 26. Mr. O. A. Joseph was appointed as the temporary secretary until representatives were formally selected. On the 23rd of the same month, a meeting was held to decide the name of the organization, during which the name “East Malaparamba Residents Association,” was unanimously accepted. In the same meeting, a 21-member executive committee was formed with Shri R. G. Ramesh as President; Shri Tom Joseph and Shri M. D. Dominic as Vice Presidents; Shri O. A. Joseph as Secretary; Shri P. N. Sethumadhavan and Shri Ramakrishna Panicker as Joint Secretaries; and Shri P. Rajendran as Treasurer, thereby marking the formal establishment of the association’s first governing body. Additionally, a committee comprising Shri Rajendran, Shri Joseph, and Shri Dominic, under the leadership of Shri M. K. Krishnan, was entrusted with drafting the by-laws and initiating the official registration process.

The draft constitution prepared by the committee was approved at a meeting held on 27 June 2010. Subsequently, under the Societies Registration Act, the East Malaparamba Residents Association was officially registered on 14 July 2010 with Registration No. S 431/2010.

In the following month, on 8 August, a Membership Campaign Committee was formed comprising Mr. M. K. Krishnan, Mr. P. Rajendran, and Mr. Vinod. During the same meeting, the association also formed five groups under the leadership of Mr. Jayaraj, Mr. Vinod Panoos, Mr. Krishnan, Mrs. Sasikala Teacher, and Mr. Pratap to enhance member engagement and coordination.

The first General Body Meeting of the association was held on 2nd October, 2010 at RG Arcade, Paroppady, and a free medical camp was also organized in the afternoon. By then, the association had grown to include 121 families. Over 300 family members participated in a grand feast prepared by the members themselves, led by Mr. Vinod and Mrs. Sasikala Teacher.

Rooted in its founding values of love, unity, and mutual support, the East Malaparamba Residents’ Association continues to thrive as a vibrant community, offering support and a sense of belonging to both its members and in those in need around them.
